    • Christmas Sugar Cookies

Posted at 11:42 am by Skylarsmama❤️
      Dec 17th

This is a classic sugar cut out cookie recipe. This recipe makes about 8 dozen cookies and can easily be doubled if needed. Skylar was really into decorating this year so that was fun🎄

      What you’ll need:

2 cups unsalted sweat cream butter (softened)

      2 cups raw cane sugar

      2 large brown eggs

      2 tsp. Pure vanilla

      7 cups all purpose flour

      1 tsp. Baking powder

      1 tsp. Baking soda

      1 tsp. Salt

In a stand mixer, combine butter, sugar and eggs. Beat on high until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla and mix until combined.

In a separate bowl mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Combine both bowls and mix until it forms a ball.

Cover bowl with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for two hours.

Take out about 30 minutes before you start rolling.

Roll out the dough and cut out cookies.

Preheat oven to 375. Place cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 10-12 minutes.

Allow to cool completely and decorate!

    • Princess Barbie Cake

Posted at 10:01 pm by Skylarsmama❤️
      Oct 24th

Skylar has been asking to make one of these for awhile so we finally took the time to do it.

We just used a simple box white cake mix, some food coloring and canned frosting.

Prepare the cake mix to the directions on the box.

Spray an 8 cup glass Pyrex bowl with cooking spray and coat with flour.

Preheat the oven according to the directions on the cake mix box.

Prepare the cake mix and separate into several smaller bowls to add different food colorings.

Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean and cake is baked through.

Allow to cool completely. Hollow out a small hole in the middle to stand the Barbie in. Put the frosting in a piping bag and frost the cake to make the dress.

      Jul 14th

Bread is something Skylar will actually eat and enjoy so she was really excited to make this. You could leave the herbs out if you prefer a classic french bread instead.

      Let’s get started!

      What you’ll need:

      2 tablespoons of yeast

      1/2 cup warm water

      2 cups hot water

      3 tablespoons of raw sugar

      2 1/2 teaspoons of salt

      1/3 cup canola oil

      6 1/2 cups of flour

      1 teaspoon garlic salt

      1 teaspoon basil

      1 teaspoon oregano

      1 egg for brushing

In a bowl combine yeast and 1/2 cup of warm water and allow to dissolve for 10 minutes.

In a separate mixing bowl combine hot water, sugar, salt, oil, 3 cups of flour and all spices. Add the yeast mixture to the bowl.
      Mix to combine.
Add the remaining 3 1/2 cups of flour. Mix after each addition.
Once all combined let set for 10 minutes.
      Separate dough into 3 balls.
Roll each piece into a rectangle and roll into a log.
Place loaves onto a greased baking sheet and make several diagonal cuts.
Whisk the egg and add a dash of each spice. Brush over each loaf.
Let the loaves rise for 45 minutes and preheat the oven to 375. Bake for 20 minutes or until baked through.

    • Holly’s Jalapeño Popper Dip

Posted at 12:11 am by Skylarsmama❤️
      Feb 4th

One of my coworkers brought this dip in and it is AMAZING 🤤. You can up the spice by substituting the canned jalapeño for fresh but this recipe is pretty mild.

      You will need:

3 – 8 oz. blocks of cream cheese (room temperature)

      3 cups of Duke’s mayonnaise

2 – 4 oz. cans of diced jalapeños (hot)

1 – 4 oz. can of diced green chilis

      1 cup panko breadcrumbs

      1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

      How to make it:

      Preheat the oven to 350.

In a stand mixer combine the cream cheese and mayo until smooth.

Add in the jalapeños and diced chilis until mixed throughout.

Spread the dip evenly into a 8×8 glass dish.

In a separate bowl combine the panko and shredded parm.

Spread evenly over the dip mixture being sure to cover the entire surface.

Bake 35-45 minutes until golden brown.

Let it set for at least 15 minutes before serving.

      Serve with tortilla chips.
